A Guide to Our Driver’s Education Instruction
It is required by the State of Michigan for individuals obtaining a driver’s license under the age of 18 to first successfully complete the requirements for Segment 1 and Segment 2 courses. The requirements for Segment 1 and 2 are as follows:
Segment 1
** A parent meeting is required at some point during Segment 1. **All students will need to obtain a Level 1 license (teen learner’s permit) from the Secretary of State Office after successfully completing Segment 1 at no cost to you, in order to continue the process for obtaining a driver’s license. | Segment 2
**All students may take the road test at any time up to one year after successfully completing Segment 2, a minimum of 6 months at level 1, and have completed at least a total of 50 required behind-the-wheel hours that include 10 night-time driving hours with a parent or designated licensed driver who is 21 years or older. The road test will require a fee. |
